WARSAW — The exhibit “PINK IS PUNK: A Barbiecore Art Pop Up” opens with a reception from 7 to 11 p.m. July 21 and continues through Aug. 26 at ATELIER, 104 E. Center St.

Inspired by the release July 21 of Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” film, the group exhibit asks: “If Barbie is a strong, independent, affluent woman, wouldn’t her dream house have a stellar art collection?”

The contributing artists were asked to feature the color pink and play with ideas of femininity, imagination, play, power and persistence, and female sexuality as they created Barbie’s fictional art collection.

“PINK IS PUNK” features contemporary paintings, vintage works from the 1960s and 1970s, photography, drawings, neon, sculpture and textiles.

The show includes three northern Indiana artists, as well as artists from all over the country and Puerto Rico, Croatia, South Korea and Italy.

The opening event includes pink cocktails, a dessert bar and a deejayed dance party. Admission is $150, and proceeds from ticket sales will fund an art exhibition featuring local high school students in 2024.

Tickets are available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/655937816667.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
